Optimization with Dakota and OpenFOAM

DAKOTA in a nutshell

Dakota stands for Design and Analysis toolKit for Optimization and Terascale Applications.  Dakota
is developed and supported by U.S. Sandia National Labs.  You can download DAKOTA toolkit at the following link: http://dakota.sandia.gov/

Dakota is a general-purpose software toolkit for performing systems analysis and design of computer experiments on high performance computers. DAKOTA provides algorithms for design optimization, uncertainty quantification, parameter estimation, design of experiments, and sensitivity analysis, as well as a range of parallel computing and simulation interfacing services.

Dakota can be interfaced with OpenFOAM (or any black box solver) using the generic script interface provided with Dakota.

Finally,  I highly recommend you to compile Dakota, instead of installling the precompiled binaries.

Design of experiments, space exploration, and numerical optimization using DAKOTA and OpenFOAM

This is the training material used during the training session presented at the 11th OpenFOAM workshop in Portugal.

The training is based on OpenFOAM 3.0.x and DAKOTA 6.3.

Some of the topics covered:
    Optimization methods in DAKOTA.
    surrogate based optimization.
Single objetive and multi objective optimization.
Coupling DAKOTA with a generic black box solver.
    Data visualizaiton.
