F. Vadalà (XXXII PhD cycle) - Thesis concerning theoretical and applied mechanics of periodic honeycomb materials, approached with analytical and numerical methodologies.
The ongoing research work is focused on the free and forced propagation of elastic waves in microstructured materials and acoustic meta-materials, with the aims of parametrically describing and spectrally optimizing
the functional performances of novel mechanical waveguides and/or phononic filters (Thesis co-tutored with L. Gambarotta).
D. Sivori (XXXIII PhD cycle) - Thesis concerning theoretical and applied aspects related to the structural safety of buildings, approached with analytical, numerical and experimental methodologies.
The ongoing research work is focused on integrating ambient vibration tests and mathematically consistent solutions of inverse modal problems in seismic assessment procedures for modern and traditional buildings (Thesis co-tutored with S. Cattari).
Bachelor and Master degree theses are available for students of the courses in Civil Engineering, Building Retrofitting Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Co-tutoring proposals on specific themes are also welcome.
